CDS 1 2019 Notification, Exam Date, Application Form, Eligibility


CDS 1 2019CDS 1 2019 Notification {official} was circulated by the Union Public Service Commission on 31st October. Combined Defense Services examination is conducted for all those candidates who have completed their graduation and want to join the Indian Army, Navy or Air Force as an officer. The CDS exam is conducted twice a year by the central recruiting agency of the country – once in the month of February and the second time in the month of November. CDS 1 examination is scheduled to be conducted on 3rd February. Online applications for the same must be filled before the last date – 26th November.

CDS 1 2019 Notification

It is a great option for the students who have a dream of joining any of the defence services. Both the male and female applicants are allowed for the test but, female candidates can only apply for CDS 1 2019 OTA (women). Here given are a few important dates using which a contender can prepare for the tests.

CDS Eligibility Criteria 2019

A candidate should check the conditions of CDS 1 2019 Eligibility before he/ she goes to apply for the vacancies in respective academies.

Age Limit: It differs category wise.

  • For IMA: The applicant not born earlier than 2nd January 1996 and not later than 1st January 2001.
  • For AFA: The contestant’s age should be between 20 to 24 years. Candidates holding valid and
    current Commercial Pilot Licence issued by DGCA (India), their maximum age limit can be 26 years.
  • For INA: The candidates not born earlier than 2nd January 1996 and not later than 1st January 2001.
  • For OTA (Women): born not earlier than 2nd January 1995 and not later than 1st January 2001. 

Educational Qualifications:

  • For IMA and Officers’ Training Academy (CDS 1 2019): the applicant must have completed the graduation degree from a recognised university.
  • For Air Force Academy: The candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a bachelor degree in any discipline but passed 10+2 with Mathematics and Physics subjects.
  • For Indian Naval Academy: must possess a degree in Engineering from a recognised university/ Institution.

CDS Application Form 2019

The CDS 2019 application form will be issued in November and all the applicants need to submit it before the last date. 

1. Only online applications through the official portal of the commission [] will be considered.
2. CDS 1 2019 application form is available in two languages – English and Hindi. But, details can only be filled in English language.
3. Applicants should fill all the required details correctly as one the form will be submitted, no changes will be permitted.
4. Candidates should submit only one application for recruitment. If multiple applications are submitted, the form with higher registration ID will be entertained.

How To Apply

  • The CDS 1 2019 form submission procedure consists of two steps.
  • In part 1, candidates required to enter all the details in the application form. Once filled, the preview will also be given to candidates before final submission.
  • In part 2: candidates will need to choose the examination centre, upload the scanned images of photograph and signature and then, make the fee payment.

Important: Digital size of the scanned image of Photograph and Signature should be between 20 KB to 300 KB.

Application Fee:

Note: Females, SC/ ST candidates are exempted from the fee payment.

  • Rest of the candidates need to pay Rs. 200/- as CDS 1 2019 application fee.
  • The fee can be deposited by cash in any of the branches of State Bank of India, by net banking facility of SBI/ State Bank of Hyderabad/ State Bank of Travancore/ State Bank of Bikaner and Jaipur/ State Bank of Mysore/ State Bank of Patiala or using the debit card or credit card.

CDS Exam Pattern 2019

The CDS 1 2019 exam pattern differs for the OTA and the remaining three academies Indian Military Academy, Indian Naval Academy and Air Force Academy.

  • For Air Force, Military and Naval Academy: The examination will comprise of three sections – English, General Knowledge and Elementary Mathematics. Each Section will carry 100 marks and two hours duration would be given to candidates for each section.
  • For Officers’ Training Academy: There will be two sections only: English and General Knowledge. Each section also carries 100 marks.
